“I will never stop dancing” is a series of movement solos covering the performer Sonia Gómez’s biography.
These are dance fragments extracted from the following pieces:
Lady X, Trilogía Egomotion (Egomotion Trilogy), Mi madre y yo (My Mother and I) and Bass.
The proposal is divided in four songs / actions, the lyrics, time period and movements of which give an account of the career of a dancer who learned how to move in discos.
Action 1
Sònia wears a pink t-shirt and a traditional Sevillian black polka-dotted yellow skirt and Guess high heels. She shows the poster:
I’M 7 YEARS OLD AND I DANCE IN DISCOS
A seven year old little girl in a disco in Villafranca del Cid, Castelló, is moving, convulsing, she is enjoying herself.
Movements along with the OBK theme “Tú sigue así” (“keep it like this”): Sònia starts dancing in front of a smoke machine and between two screens like those at concerts.
Acción 2
Sònia wears bright green shorts, a pink t-shirt and Guess shoes. She shows the poster:
I’M 12 YEARS OLD AND I’M LOOKING FOR A BOYFRIEND A standing microphone.
Concert-like Movements with the theme “Boys don’t cry” by the The Cure, playback with text over it.
Text / song:
My first kiss
You and me -
Heat, moisture, little noises -
Odd and nice
I’m nervous -
New, soft, strange, -
I can feel it throughout my whole body -
-
I like how this boy smells
Hand on back of the neck, on back, not on breasts -
This is a kiss, just that -
Creamy with rubbing of adolescent facial hair -
Without tongue,/ with tongue -
my first kiss
Note: Original text in English and Spanish.
Action 3
Sònia wears a CK black bra, bright green shorts and Guess shoes. She shows the poster:
I’M 19, I’M COOL AND THAT’S WHY I’M HERE
Text:
So, I spend my time being cool now. And I become cool just to try it out, to have a good time and to identify myself with something. But I don’t see myself as cool or anything.
However, you could never tell from the outside, from the outside you couldn’t tell a thing, because I wear cool clothes, I move in a cool way, I try to be cooler everyday and I work really hard to be cool. In Barcelona everyone is cool. Cool dignity. And I carry this feeling of coolness with me everywhere I go, and all that surrounds me is cool. And “cool” is the most important word in the world.
Note: Text in voice-over.
Movements along with the series of the best DISCO HIGHS of all times.
Action 4
Sònia wears a red feathered rucksack like a cabaret star, a black CK bra, bright green shorts and Guess shoes. Shows the poster:
I’M 25 AND I’M STILL LOOKING FOR A BOYFRIEND
Movements with the theme Peepshow by Manu Léonard / Sonia Gómez
Text / song:
Note: Original lyrics in Spanish.
(Bite, shout, get yourself a wig and whore yourself, now you’ll be able to join the system, pull out hearts, cook them, eat your own excrement and that of your neighbours, raze to the ground, bitch, ***** five stars, peepshow peepshow, throw yourself against a moving car in order to collect compensation, your wrinkles are your history, go down to Morocco and get yourself buggered, bastards, you howl, give me more pleasure, give me more pleasure, things are as you expected them to be, have a wank in front of a coffee shop, splash and aim, look at her in the eyes while all this happens, don’t blush, it’s a sin). | |
